Lansdowne, Pauri Garhwal
Lansdowne is located in Pauri district of Uttarakhand, it is a very beautiful and popular hill station in Uttarakhand. It is located at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. The local name of this place is Kaludanda means Dark Hill.
Surrounded by Oaks and pine trees, it is an ideal location for eco-tourism and it is well preserved by Garhwal Rifle and Government of Uttarakhand. This place also attracts foreign tourists due to its beauty.
This place is not a crowded place that is why the environment here is very clean and peaceful. The scenic beauty of this place is very beautiful. This place is named after the Viceroy of India Lord Lansdowne. In 1887, Viceroy Lord Lansdowne discovered this hill station.
The headquarter of Garhwal Rifles is located in this place. The war memorial at the Prade Ground of the Garhwal Rifles Centre is a major attraction for visitors. This destination is perfect for a weekend tour.

Camping in Lansdowne
There is only one camping site located in Dugadda. Apart from this, there is no campsite here. They have about 50 tents and they charge 2000 per tent, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are various activities for children in the campsite.
It would be a good idea to take your own camping gear with you. The Advait campsite will charge 500 rupees for pitching tents in their area which is not a big deal. In this, you get facilities such as charging point and washroom. There is a separate charge for food here, 300 for lunch and 300 for dinner.
This place is one of the best destinations for photography in Uttarakhand. From different parts of the town, the traveler can capture beautiful moments in their camera. This place also offers a majestic view of Himalayan range.
The Lansdowne forest is an ideal place for Jungle safari. Here the traveler can find the tour operator who will arrange a jungle safari for them. Travelers can enjoy the Himalayan Wildlife during the jungle safari.
You can go to the forest safari for trekking. Tarkeshwar Temple and Bhairavgarhi Mandir is a good trail for trekking in Lansdowne.
This place is very good for yoga and meditation. You can feel the freshness of the morning which does not feel in the city. 5-10 minutes meditation or Yoga is enough at this place.

How to reach Lansdowne
By Train: This is no railway line in this place. Lansdowne nearest railway station is Kotdwara which is 40 km far from here. From Kotdwara one can easily reach this place by hiring a taxi or can travel by bus.
By Air: The traveler cannot reach to this place directly by flight. The nearest airport from here is Jolly Grant airport which is 150 km far from here. After reaching Dehradun one can take taxi or bus from Dehradun to Kotdwar. The traveler can hire a cab from Jollygrant airport to Lansdowne. Taxies (Maxx) are available from Rispana Bridge near Vidhansabha. After reaching Kotdwar it is easy to reach here by taxi.
By Road: The best way to travel Lansdowne is by road. From the ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Delhi one can reach Straight to Kotdwar or Pauri by bus. It is a good idea to go straight to Kotdwar from Delhi, because Lansdowne is 40 km away from Kotdwar, whereas Pauri is 84 km far from here. After reaching Kotdwar, one can easily reach Lansdowne by taxi or by bus.
