Deoriatal Trek

Deoriatal is an ancient lake located near Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district. Surrounded by bamboo and Rhododendron trees. This lake is situated at an altitude of 7000 feet above sea level. Deoria Tal trek is one of the popular and evergreen treks in Uttarakhand. People come here from far away throughout the year. In the month of August-September, many types of flowers also bloom near the lake. During winters the whole area is covered with snow.

This place offers a panoramic view of Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, Nilkanth, Kalanaag, Kedar Mountain and other Himalayan peaks. This place is best for the nature lover, peace lover and Birdwatcher.

Best time to visit Deoriatal

April, May, June, July, August, September, October Due to the clear weather, these few months are considered good for Deoria Tal Trek because the weather is clear due to which one can see the Himalaya view clearly. However, due to fog in the monsoon season, the view may not be clear, so it not a good choice to trek during the monsoon season.

Deoriatal in Winters

Due to high altitude, during winter, the entire area is covered with heavy snow. It is a good idea to do a winter trek in Deoriatal. The scenery is wonderful during winter and mountain views are also breathtaking. This whole place is covered with snow during the month of December, January, and February.

Deoriatal in summer

While in cities it is difficult to get out in the summer season, but the summer season is very pleasant in Deoriatal. Here in the summer, the weather is cold and it becomes green all over in full swing. In the summer, the Himalayas’ views are even more visible as compared to other months.

Camping in Deoriatal

Devariyatal is one of the best camping destinations in Uttarakhand. One night camping is enough in Deoraital, the next day it’s a good choice to leave for Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila. Tent and sleeping bags available for rent in Deoriatal, if you have your own trekking gear then you can carry your own. You have to pay around 50 rupees for a small tent, 100 rupees for medium and kitchen tent to the Forest Department Officer to pitch your tent there.

Deoria Tal Entry Charges

Entry Fee – 150 rupees for Indian and 600 rupees for the foreigner.

Camping Fee – Small Tent – 50 INR for Indian and 100 INR for Foreigner. Medium Tent – 100 INR for Indian and 200 INR for Foreigner. Kitchen Tent – 100 INR for Indian and 200 for foregner.

Camera and Filming – Digital camera (Professional) – 500 INR for Indian and 1500 INR for Foreigner. Documentary – 10,000 INR for Indian and 50,000 INR for Foreigner.

Hotel in Deoriatal

There is no hotel facility available in the campsite. However, rooms are available in Sari village. The only way of staying in Deoriatal at night is the tent. ATM near Deoriatal

There is no ATM in the Sari village. The nearest ATM is in Ukhimath which is 10 km away from Sari Village.

Deoria Tal weather

Summer: The weather is pleasant in Deoriatal during the summer season. Max – 25 degree, Min – 10 degree.

Winter: The minimum temperature is -5 and maximum is 10 degree.

Food Facility in Deoriatal

Food facility in Deoriatal is much better than other destination in Uttarakhand. You do not have to carry your own ration there. Some 100 meters away from the campsite, the villagers have some Dhaba’s. One can do the dinner and the breakfast in the Dhaba’s only. They cook ordinary homemade food, but if you want to eat something special (non-vegetarian, paneer, etc.) then you can bring the stuff with you and they will cook this food for you. In morning breakfast, you get potato paratha, pickle, and tea.

Parking Facility in Deoriatal

Due to being the last village of the area, there is no problem like traffic in the village, so you can park your vehicle anywhere on the roadside. If you go from Bike then there is no problem in the village for bike parking.

Things to do in Deoria tal

Bird Watching: This place is suitable for bird watching. Birds of different species are found in the Deoria tal, which you can capture in your camera.

Yoga: This peaceful place id best for doing Yoga. No crowd, No pollution, Just peace.

Photography: This place provides magnificent views of the mountain. its an ideal place for photography.

Things to keep in mind

  • Carry warm clothes.
  • Do not go near the lake.
  • Keep the places around the lake clean.
  • Swimming and boating into the lake are strictly prohibited.
  • Fire is not allowed on the campsite.
  • Do not harm any wild animal. If you were found doing this, you may have to spend the night in the forest department jail, which is present on the other side of the lake.

How to reach Deoriatal

How to reach Deoriatal by Air

The nearest airport from Sari Village is Jollygrant airport (209 km). After reaching Dehradun, taxis are available outside the airport, through which one can reach the taxi stand near Rispana Bridge. By 12 0clock taxies are easily available from Dehradun to Rudraprayag.

How to Reach Deoria tal by train

Deoriatal is not connected to the railway line. The nearest railway station is Rishikesh Railway station, which is 192 km far from Saari village. After reaching Rishikesh traveler can hire a taxi from Rishikesh to Deoriatal.

How to Reach Deoriatal by road

Taxi and buses are available from Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh to Rudraprayag. A roadway bus goes from Dehradun to Gopeshwar every day. Through this bus, you can reach Rudraprayag. After reaching Rudraprayag local transport are available to Sari village. You can also hire a cab from Haridwar, Dehradun or Rishikesh.

Direct buses are available from Kashmiri Gate, Delhi to Rudraprayag. One can travel directly from Delhi to Rudraprayag and after reaching Rudraprayag they can hire a taxi from Rudraprayag to Saari village.

The way of Deoria Tal Trek starts from the Saari village, Rudraprayag. The trek of 2.2 km takes you to this delightful place. Due to the rocky trek path, it takes 1 hour time to reach the campsite.

Delhi to Rishikesh (232 km) – Rishikesh to Devprayag (74 km) – Devprayag to Srinagar (39 km)- Srinagar to Rudraprayag (33 km) – Rudraprayag to Agastmuni (19 km) – Agastmuni to Ukhimath (23 km)- Ukhimath to Saari Village (12 km) – Saari Village to Deoria Tal (2.2 km).

1st Day – Delhi – Rishikesh – Ukhimath

2nd Day – Ukhimath – Sari Village – Deoria Tal

3rd Day – Deoria Tal – Chopta – Tungnath – Chandrashila – Chopta.

4th Day – Chopta – Rishikesh – Delhi.
